Relaxing, New Learning, and Dirty Kids = Camping

We spent 10 days camping at Cadillac with the De Vries family. We had such a great time. Most of our time was relaxing and then there was chasing the girls around. Here is what each of us did this week.

BROOKE - Where do I begin with her. She learned to fish by herself in the boat that included putting the worm on and casting, and catching the fish. Dad would take them off. One morning she went fishing with dad and grandpa and all the fish they caught they took back and had them for lunch. Brooke helped bread the fish and fry them. She also went to a bug class at the Nature Center and caught a lot of bugs that night. She tried her hand at bow and arrow and LOVED it. I'm thinking she turning into an outdoor girl. Brooke learned to ride her bike with no training wheels. Almost every morning she went to get donuts with dad and grandpa. She went golfing with dad one morning and learned to drive the cart and got root beer half way through. She always had to be doing something there was no sit in her all week.

KENZIE - Well one word can sum her week up - DIRTY. She played by our nice dirty sand by the trailer. We went through so many clothes and she was black from head to toe every night. She also went fishing one morning on the boat and leave it up to Kenzie she fell out of the boat she went all the way under and yes she had a life jacket on (don't know what dad and grandpa were doing when this happened)

COREY - He did a lot of sitting around and taking naps. He went golfing one morning. He did a lot of fishing with Brooke. Did some kind of shooting at a hunting store (Who knows what they actually did) He helped out with the girls a lot so I could have some vacation too.

ME - Well I didn't do much besides sitting around and taking some walks. I sat in the boat with Brooke while she fished. I took some much needed naps. It was such a great vacation and it was great to have Corey there the whole time to help out.

Big Star Lake

Back from a week at the lake. We had a great time - it went so fast even though we didn't do much. The girls loved the water I think they were in the water with their clothes on most of the time. The weather was a little cool so not much swimming for the adults. Kenzie made soup everyday with sand and water. Brooke hung out with Kelsey and Brit most of the week. I had so much help from everyone there it was great (thanks for entertaining my kids). Brooke went fishing one night in the big red boat and caught the only fish she was so proud of herself and had to call dad right way. the girls collected snail shells, rocks, and acorns and yes they all came home with us. The mosquitoes were so bad this year you couldn't sit outside at night at all and even during the day they were bad. It's great to be home and sleep in our own beds and give the girls baths and not showers.

Strawberries

We went strawberry picking on Saturday morning. I took both the girls and my mom went also. Brooke loved picking last year, but this year she just looked at the bushes and said "I don't see any." Kenzie was picking them off the bush and eating most of them. Brooke got into it toward the end and Kenzie had enough. I picked about 6 qt. At night mom and dad came over for pizza and then we made jam. Brooke did most of the mashing of the berries she just loves doing things in the kitchen. Another strawberry season done = a freezer full of jam :)

Swimming Lessons

Brooke has been taking swimming lessons the last two weeks and she loves it. I think we might have a water rat on our hands. She has improved a lot over the last week and a half. She can put her whole head under, swim with just a swim belt on, jump off the diving board with a noodle, and today she swam by herself with no swim belt on (not for a long way). Brooke loves having mom and Kenzie watch her every day. She is always waving and smiling at us. Kenzie will make silly faces at her and yell out Brookey and clap. She had one bad day where she was scared b/c they took the noodle away, so I told her if she doe's better the next time she may get some swimming goggles - man what a bribe can do. She did great the next day and off to Target we went to get the goggles.

Father's Day

We had a great but busy Father's Day this year. Corey sure did play the card that he needed a break for the day. We had my family over at noon for a hamburg fry. We all took some good naps except Brooke. Off to the De Vries family were we enjoyed another hamburg fry. Corey made out good this year the girls gave him a box full of candy with little made up sayings on them. I got him some church clothes and the washer game for outside. I hope he had a great day.
